Green City champions meet in MILAN

On June 4th, green space champions from some of the world’s greatest cities will gather at the International Environment Festival in Milan. Senior figures from the worlds of green infrastructure, development and regeneration will take part in a round table discussion on ‘A Green Future for the Great World Capitals’. This meeting will see the flow of information and ideas between nations and continents.

A sample of speakers includes:

Robert Hammond, co-founder and Executive Director of Friends of the High Line in New York; Madame Giboudeaux, Delegate mayor of Paris in charge of Environment and Green Spaces and Reiner Nagel, Head of Division, Senate Department for Urban Development in Berlin. The keynote address will be given by Janez Potocnik, European Commissioner for the Environment.

It is expected that delegates will attend from at least seven different countries. As well as the group session on the first morning, there will also be visits for delegates to some of the latest project sites in Milan. On the Saturday morning national representatives from the International Green City initiative will discuss progress in their individual countries and debate approaches for future development.
